Cottage Extension, Toftcombs

This extension to an early 20th century brick-built cottage is designed to relocate living spaces away from the front of the house (which overlooks a busy main road) and to place these within a new extension which can take advantage of views across open countryside to the south and west.
The new building takes the form of a glass and zinc pavilion which ‘hovers’ above the back garden, and contains living and dining spaces. Both the new extension and the existing cottage are (re)configured to connect directly with re-designed garden spaces.
